March is National Vulgarity Month!

National Vulgarity Month is that singular time of the year when families gather together and embrace the marvelous art of inappropriate and gratuitous swearing. It is a time when you can say all the things that you are always thinking without fear of reprisal! Free of the bonds of linguistic censorship, National Vulgarity Month enables true expression in today's stuffy and overly repressive society.

Why March?

March is named for Mars, the Roman god of war. In ancient Rome, March was called Martius. It was named after the war god (Mars) and was considered a lucky time to begin a war. Likewise, March is the most fitting time to speak in an openly belligerent and hostile manner to all, regardless of context.

What is the point of National Vulgarity Month?

There are three main reasons behind the inception of National Vulgarity Month and its proliferation :

  • Modern society is often paralyzed by politeness - swearing helps to destroy these artifices of decorum and promotes truthful exchange of ideas.
  • The removal of expletives from language cripples linguistic development - swearing has always been at the forefront of language. Language is an essential aspect of our very thinking. Words give the very form and meaning to our thoughts. Swearing allows the growth of intellectual conceptualization by creating an unbounded arena for the formulation of such thoughts.
  • Your mother is a whore - it may be tough to accept, but this is the sad truth. And without numerous and startlingly blunt ways of relating this fact, what is the point of speaking at all?
